More Wild Things

Lorien with Orion (9 months) and Adara (2 years):

And again in front of the reptile cages.
They were very well behaved, sweet kids:

Sonja the cockatoo loves Lorien:

The dogs were being rather rowdy that day.
I got jumped on, and the goats and ponies were upset by all the barking. You can see that Lorien isn't too thrilled by their behavior.
The kids were much more mellow!

Visiting Wild Things

Wild Things is actually the name of Lorien's business.
So when I visited her, I got to see her animals!
I got to play with the milk snakes:

And pet the albino hedgehog Snowball
(Lorien is holding her):

and watch Sonja the cockatoo dance and ruffle her crest,
in return for almond treats:

and in the yard there were goats.
I love goats!

A Tribute to Lizard Food

The ambience is not particularly sophisticated,
but this IS the best Mexican restaurant in Salt Lake City.
Especially if you like mole,
which my sister and I do.
Enchiladas with mole coloradito (red mole):

enchiladas with mole verde:

Food bliss!!

Autumn Evening Sky

Emily and I went up the canyon yesterday evening.
The colors were gorgeous, and so was the sky!

Maxfield Parrish could have painted that sky.

Sky Bird

A view from Rt 6 in Nevada,
from my last trip:

Frosting the Cake, Ten Year Old Style

No boring pastel colors here.
Let's mix that frosting up Bright Blue!

And because it's a marbled cake,
we need to have marbled frosting, yes?
So the base is yellow:

And blue will be the accent color:

There!
How's THAT for a cake??

(In all honesty, it tastes just fine...
once you get past the appearance)

A Ten Year Old's Idea of Cake

My original plans for this weekend were to go camping,
but I felt icky, so I stayed home.
My nephew came over,
and we baked a cake.

He had been wanting to make a marbled cake.
So he mixed it together in my Kitchen Aid
(with some supervision from me.)
He did think the batter was yummy:

Got to be some more in there...

Now to marble that chocolate batter into the vanilla:

Ready for the oven:
